May 4, 2011
I was contacted today that my publisher was wrapping up some of my music to send "across the pond" to England to one of their partner companies who provide music for videos.
Cool!
19 Tracks signed to a Music Publisher
May 3, 2011
I was honored to have 19 of my tracks signed to a Music Publisher. They then showed interest in hearing more.
Now I have to get busy and fill out a META sheet for those pieces. This is a good exercise as I am noticing I do not have very much META info for these songs.
A good day for submissions.

Re-recording a piece can be a pain
My song "Don't Leave Me Now" needed some tweaking. I had to record the acoustic guitar part all over again. It took much longer than I wanted it to. But of course it is worth it all in the end.

Everything at Studio 51 is going great. I have writing multiple genres and submitting as fast as I can.
They are really starting to grow quickly and making some very solid contacts for distribution of all composers.
I look forward to great things with Studio 51.
Singer Songwriter Page now online
Mar 10, 2011
I added a singer-songwriter page and have placed three pieces up there that I wrote in the last few weeks.
You can listen at Singer Songwriter page
I am trying to write in the style of Jack Johnson, John Mayer and Jason Mraz. I have really tried to home in on Jack Johnson. Although I like John Mayer's song writing style, and Jason Mraz voice, I like Jack Johnson's overall style.
More singer-songwrtiter music to come.
New Guitar
Mar 5, 2011
To assist in my writing or singer-songwriter style, I acquired a Taylor acoustic. It has a sweet sound, and feels great playing. Simply natural.
Singer-Songwriter
Mar 1, 2011
I started to focus my efforts on writing more Singer Songwriter style songs. So far it has been fun.
Since most Singer Songwriter songs are simpler in instrumentation, meaning less instruments (electric), there is a greater focus on a voice that carries more emotions as well as more imagery in the lyrics. This is where the real challenge is, and where the difference between a good and great song is.
Needless to say, I have been listening to more music by Jack Johnson, John Mayer and Jason Mraz. I am in awe by all three of them, their singing, lyrics, chord structure and melody lines.
I will be putting up a Singer-Songwriter page soon

A New Year brings New Opportunities
Jan 7, 2011
Things at Studio51 are going great. I have been writing a bunch of instrumentals and vocals in various genres and so far they have all been included for Pacifica.
I also signed with Score Keeper to write some custom cues for some of their clients. I have to think more Danny Elfman who I really admire. Just call me "Paulie Elfman".
I am looking forward to 2011 and all of the opprotunities that are ahead.

New Song - "Are The One"
Nov 12, 2010
Just finished a new love song named "Are The One". I am really excited about it. As a songwriter, it is funny how the song I am currently working on is my most favorite of all time. But this time I mean it. It is a really pretty piece. I am in the process of creating various versions and will be uploading to my website this week.
Great News ! Just been signed.
Nov 10, 2010
I have recently been signed as a composer with Studio 51.
Now the pressure is on. I am busy writing and will be submitting new music to them soon.
Cross your fingers. Although I have been signed, I still have to produce A+ material in order for it to make it into the catalog.
I think this will be a bit of a learning curve and will force me to reach to new levels. I am up for the challenge !
Re-recording vocals is a pain
Nov 9, 2010
So I had the vocals for a new song "Are The One" recorded perfectly.
Then after reviewing, I decided it was too slow, and the wrong key. Argh!
I decided to start the vocals all over again. Sometimes tweaking with the original in either pitch or time just does not sound the same as the raw voice.
Back to the drawing board.
I am excited to hear how this song comes up. It is a great soft love song that will be perfect for TV, "Grey's Anatomy" would be my first choice.
I will let you know how it comes out.
New Song "I Do"
Nov 8, 2010
After hearing the many cute, bouncy female songs, similar in style to the music in the film Juno, I decided to give it a try. Of course to really get the same effect I would need a female singer. This is where my wife comes into play. I recruited her to sing a new song I wrote called "I Do". It is very cute and the melody is contagious.
She has done a wonderful job for recording her first song. I hardly had to tweak a thing on her vocals. I was amazed. Actually I was a bit jealous as I think she sang a thousand times better on her first song than I did in my first 100 songs.
We played “I Do” for a bunch of people in and out of the music industry and they all came back with pretty much the same response. “I could hear that in an automobile commercial”, “I could hear that in a breakfast commercial”, “I could hear that in a baby commercial”.
I am excited to start promoting it and seeing where it can go.
And as far as my wife singing more, I think we have a new combo that will work. I write the cute bouncy tunes, and she sings them with her sweet lullaby voice.
Please take a listen and let us know what you think.
Am I behind on my music blog.... or what?
Nov 7, 2010
I cannot believe how long it has been since I have written. It is not because of a lack of effort toward my music. I have actually been quite busy in the act of writing music that most other things have been on a back burner, including my blog. I promise I will be better at it. I have quite a bit going on and I might be on the verge of some really cool things that could jump start placements.
To give you an update, I have been writing all sorts of music. I have been meaning to expand adding music to my catalog in multiple genres so I have been writing writing a bunch of new material. I have really been focusing on instrumentals. This way if a need for music in a genre arises, I have something to submit.
I met up with a couple of video game creators and I have written and placed music in a those video games. I hope things go well with the games and I look forward to seeing the final product.
I have a few more cool things that have been happening that I will write more about tomorrow.
Until then...
